With most of 2020 under COVID restrictions Mt ACE is now looking forward. Our Community Grant program was put on hold till 2021 so watch this site for new information.

COVID-19 Support

Mt ACE handed over $4,000 to local groups to support their community work. Salvation Army, CHIRP Community Health, St Vincents and Castlemaine Community House each received $1,000. Programs such as the Community Pantry have been set up by these groups, charities and volunteers to look after each other during COVID times. Locals Helping Locals.

Annual Report 2020

In November we were able to resume meetings and catch up with our important task of distributing funds to local groups. We welcomed new Castlemaine Bank Manager Ben Rodda and new committee member Elizabeth Beck. Our long time Secretary Robyn Lewis has retired after 15 years service. The group recognizes that many groups will be helped by a small grant to get them going again in 2021 so there is now a simplified application which will benefit the club and the Enterprise.

Food @ Christmas Changes

The annual Food @ Christmas collection won’t take place in 2020 but we have increased our financial donation to $2000 for the Salvation Army this year. Due to COVID limitations on customer numbers entering the branch, we will not have our food collection basket in the Castlemaine Bendigo Bank branch foyer. Instead we have doubled our donation which will enable them to continue their great work supporting over 150 local households this Christmas with food hampers.

Five Fab Defibs

Castlemaine District Community Health have received a donation of 5 trainer defibrillators to assist with their CPR and First Aid training courses.

L to P Funding

Learner drivers have been boosted by a $1,000 donation to Castlemaine Community Health to assist with their volunteer driver program which helps learners reach their 120 hours. This donation will help cover petrol costs.

‘Happy Hour’ Report

The community joined with us in September as we celebrated our year’s achievements and presented the 2018 community grants. Mt Alexander Community Enterprise is a voluntary group raising funds for our shire through its funding partnership with Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco. Each year we distribute funds to our core projects, Wesley Hill Sports Complex redevelopment and Castlemaine Community Hot Rod Centre, as well as our annual small grants, Food@Christmas for the Salvation Army and other projects.

For every new or existing customer who chooses these services and asks to tag their account as a MtACE supporter, the Bank or Telco contributes a commission to MtACE, so the more who sign up, the greater the funds we have to return to the community and it doesn’t cost you anything.

New Pavilion Keys Handover

Work has been completed on Stage 2 of the Wesley Hill Sports Complex Redevelopment and the keys handed to the user groups for their 2019 seasons. MtACE has donated $100,000 to the project thanks to everyone who uses Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco and says, ‘Link my account to MtACE!’ The new pavillion has 4 changerooms for males and females, home and away teams, kiosk, offices and associated facilities for football and netball, umpire rooms UA facilities, public toilets and storage for netball, cycling and football. The multi-use facility can cater for many of the sports at the site and use will be shared by them. What a great community outcome. Well done to all involved.
